DreadLAX prepare for The Austrian Open

On Thursday DreadLAX set off for tour number 2 of the summer 2013 tour season.

The Austrian Lacrosse Open (ALO) in Vienna (run by the Monarchs) is a long running tournament and a favourite of most of those who have played it before.  The organisation is always supreme and the location is ideal, with the men’s and women’s tournament being played very close to one another and a well-stocked bar on site.

The standard this year looks as high as ever with the Austrian national team lining up as well as the Bundeswehr (German joint armed forces) academy team and our final opponents from the Silesia cup; the Bratislava Tricksters.

Our squad for this tournament has been impacted by injury and the cost of getting to Vienna but we have still assembled a formidable looking team that will be aiming to challenge for silver wear.  With Brits being outnumbered for the first time in a DreadLAX line-up this is a great step forward, all that remains to be seen is whether the Europeans keep up the reputation the Brits have established?!

GK – Nima Barzim (GBR)

D – Bartosz Kajor (POL)

D/A – Patrick van Lavieren (NED)

The welcome party on Thursday night combined with some of our team travelling overnight means Friday is sure to be an interesting day of lacrosse but one we’re all looking forward to immensely.

This may even be the debut of the new DreadLAX lids.  Will they start off life with a big win on Friday morning?
