The U19 World Championships kicked off with a bang today in Hannover as the teams made their first official appearances at the site. The England ladies were looking on top form as they strutted out onto the pitch during the opening ceremony to greet spectators and fans from across the world.

As well as the opening ceremony, today also saw the first official game of the Championships. The team from the Czech Republic faced off against the home side and fought to an incredible victory of 12-8 against the Germans.

Videos of this game and every other will soon be available on the official tournament website but for those of you dying for a piece of the action then head over to the official Twitter account for the World Championships where you will find up-to-date news and information about all the games and tournament goings-on.

Tomorrow kicks off with Haudenosaunee v Canada at 11am local time (I think that’s 10am in the UK). Wales and Scotland will go head-to-head at 3pm (2pm) in what is sure to be a ferocious battle between the two British nations, particularly after the Scottish senior team managed a narrow victory over the Welsh at this year’s Home Internationals.

You can bet that several of the Welsh U19 will be hoping to turn the tables on the Scots and bring home a victory. Definitely one to watch if you’re lucky enough to be out there!

England are set to go up against top 3 favourites Australia at 7pm (6pm) in what is sure to be an intense and exciting game. We’re all rooting for you ladies! Go kick some Aussie ass! (Disclaimer: no offence to any Australians intended)
